Atlanta looks like a winter wonderland today. We got surprised with several inches of snow yesterday that has coated our city with white.
Our rare days of snow means that we take advantage of this pearly white fun since we only receive it once a year at best. This means kids and adults alike will be playing outside in the snow, making snowmen and having snow ball fights. It is a beautiful time for all.
Here is a reminder, that while you are having fun in the snow, make sure to not bring the snow inside with you. Your hardwood floors are not a fan of the snowy weather and the snow will quickly melt inside, which can create water damage on your floors.
One way to protect against the snow from outside is to make sure you put absorbent mats right next to all the entries of the house. This will catch some of the snow from your shoes.
Do not use a towel as your doormat as towels are absorbent and will be damp on your hardwood floors. Be sure to pick up any damp towels you may have used to brush off snow.
Also be sure to have everyone take off their shoes when they enter the house. Some of the roads have been salted and the mixture of salt and snow is not good for your hardwood floors. It is best to take off all shoes before walking on the hardwood floors.
If your jacket or pants have carried any snow in with you from a snow ball fight or from making snow angels, then make sure that you take your jacket off and leave it by the door. If any snow falls off while your getting inside, make sure to clean it off the floors immediately.
These are just some tips as we are enjoying these unusually snowy day here in Atlanta.
